We’ve been dropp’n hints for awhile, as the movement has been gaining momentum. We can wait no further. Now is the time. There’s RIOTs on the streets.

Diehards have been waiting for this day for years. Brought to you directly by the team that originated the short luff concept that has rocked the PWA podium year after year. Sporting an ultra sick outline with a high cut foot and short luff, the Riot breaks new ground. Need something that can fit into the pocket of a hollow wave? Working on your doubles? Need something compact, yet powerful enough to drive your new twinzer? Trying to stomp your first forward? Grab a Riot and join the revolution.
Tech:
- A short luff length with a moderate boom brings the most radical moves within reach.
- Dacron Luff panel provides flat profiles and a superior rig elasticity.
- Foldback tack patching and silicon batten bumpers keep stitching from grinding on the asphalt.
- No seams below the foot batten give no chance for wear on board’s non-skid.
- Heat pressed tack fairing with integral rigging handle protects boards and feet.
- Super protect sock stitching head to tack keeps you out of the repair shop and on the water.
- Strap-On system keeps sails organized in the back of your pickup.
Size Flow: 3.6, 4.0, 4.4, 4.8, 5.2, 5.6

looks really good! i´m curious about it!
which size is with 4 battens?
it´s a four batten sail up to 4.8 // the 5.2 & 5.6 are having 5 battens.
you should givem a try. it´s a blast!
Nice one but why does Dan Kassler not get a 5.8 in there? Just like the Naish Boxer witch I love soooo much! The 2005 model 5.8 does go on an 4 meter mast. I Would love to see this been doen again by Vandal!
thanks N… speaking of boxing. just sailed the 5.6 Riot yesterday at the Hatch. There is a long history behind the Riot, and it comes as an evolution of my personal quiver. Every year, I’ve been tweaking and the result is the sick new line of Riots. They are not quite as compact as the old Boxer, but as a trade-off, they have killer wind ranges by comparison. I wouldn’t rule out a 6.2 on a 430 stick in the future.
Dan
Will the riot 5,6 work good as the biggest freestylesail and on a naish firestick 100%-400-mast from 2008? Early plannig and light feel is important.
Have been riding simmer xd(5,7 2006) before. Very early planning.
The Riots are really nice looking sails!
Hey Ola…. I’m not 1000% sure. I haven’t tried the 08 Naish mast… I believe they are still made by PowerEx. The Riot has a fairly forgiving luff curve, so most indicators would suggest that the result of rigging on this mast should be pretty good. In a perfect world, I would definately grab a Vandal mast, or a Gaastra as second choice, but for most purposes, a high carbon RDM from any manufacturer should get ya in the game. Maybe someone out here in the Vandal-sphere has tried this combo and has some advice….???
Dan, do you think the luff on the 4.8 is wide enough to accommodate an Aeromax (the old tapered Naish/Powerex), or will it stop the bottom batten from rotating? Tomas
Hey Tomas,
I haven’t tested the combo, but the sock is setup with a width capable of fitting a regular SDM, as well as the recommended RDM. In this case, with the Aeromax, you should be all good.
Tried the 5,6 on a firestick 400, 100% today. Didn´t work good at all. Extremley loose in the upper part of the sail and still the second batten from below had massive rotaion. Some of the rotation could be taken out with more downhaul(outhaul didn´t solve the problem) but then the top of the sail were as loose as a fully cambered racesail. Don´t think the sail is designd to work like that. It´s a shame I can´t aford a Vandal mast. The sail looks so nice. But with this setting I am planning way erlier on my 5,0 sail.
2009 Gaastra RDM masts have the same bend curve as Vandal masts, right?
I do like the look of the Riot, but find the sizing a bit odd? How do you build a three or four sail wave-quiver (which, in my opinion, should be enough to cover your wave-sailing needs)?
5.6, 4.8, 4.0 or 5.2, 4.4 and 3.6 are fairly large gaps, but maybe it works?
My ideal Riot line would be 5.6 – 5.0 – 4.4 – 3.8…
